Scarborough Fair

我是在Sarah Brightman的La Luna這專輯聽到的，這個專輯我只喜歡兩首歌一首是Gloomy Sunday另外一首就是Scarborough Fair了。Scarborough Fair是一首年代遙遠的歌，出處作者皆不可考（也就是考試不能考）類似中文課裡面作者是佚名一樣，附帶一提佚名可是我最喜歡的作者啦！不過以歌曲來講這有一專有名詞叫做"謎歌"(riddle song)。當然，隨著時代的演進曲調歌詞都有所變化，大概只剩下歌名沒有變～像裡面的Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme（荷蘭芹、鼠尾草、迷迭香與百里香）如果跑去中國東北歌曲就可能會換成東北三寶，人森，貂皮，烏拉草。

歌詞內容主要是藉由一些很困難達到的要求，來考驗對方，像「你是否願意為我摘天上的星星」等話語一般。其實是一種含蓄的愛的表現??????????????(別人寫的)

我一定會說，抱歉！辦不到！你如果說去非洲抓猩猩還比較有可能達成...

另外，這首歌也曾作為60年代美國電影《畢業生》的插曲，不過我沒看過...

PS:「Scarborough Fair」 斯卡布羅集市。在中世紀時期，Scarborough是來自全歐洲的商人經常聚集的一個海邊重鎮，非常繁華，而現在只是英格蘭西北部一個默默無聞的小鎮。
